Trauma or aggression? If it is the very first time when your pit bull has shown aggression towards people other than barking-it is alarming, even if the dog usually shows affection towards children, and has always been especially gentle with them, never jumping on them or mouthing. It could well be post-trauma stress, and it could well be related to the stress you feel after some incident. Using treats and having a friend set up an encounter are good ideas, but it's really important to do this carefully, alwaying keeping your dog UNDER her stress threshold. So don't have your friend approach you; you approach the friend, feeding your dog lots of treats, and stop BEFORE she/he gets upset.
