As with many dog sports, the field of ‘Agility’ has its  commonly accepted regular achievers. These are generally the dogs  belonging to herding breeds such as Shelties and Border Collies who  are considered to be agile and fast. The Pitbull is more than a  match in speed and agility for any Border collie. Not only do they  excel in these qualities but additionally they have tenacity and  vigour that cannot be matched which they bring to an agility course.  Agility in a dog is a quality that can generate a lot of fun. There  is opportunity to have your dog get involved in sport that requires  highly skilled and tuned agility. This is sport which enables your  animal to work together with you. If your dog is particularly shy  you can make use of an agility course to build up self esteem as  well as self confidence in your dog. Getting themselves over the  A-Frame and being able to nail it is a wonderful confidence booster  for any dog; and it goes without saying, for the dog’s handler as  well. Catch Twenty Two: However only Pitbulls that could be  controlled around other dogs while off their leads could be entered  for agility. It is both an exciting, as well as an off leash sport.  Unless your dog is very well trained you should not think of having  him start competing. This of course does not prevent you from  building your very own agility course.   
The How’s of Getting Started  There are a large number of clubs that are teaching agility  everywhere. If you go on the internet you will quite easily be able  to find a club near your home. Before that however, it needs to  address the issue of pitbulls that do not get along very well with  other animals. There is really no reason why you should not get into  agility even if you have a dog that’s unfriendly. Even though  agility on a competitive level is completely out of bounds, you can  still have a lot of fun with agility. Your own equipment for agility  can be purchased for your own use or even turned out by you.  Whichever way you would like to get it going, setting up your own  small course for pleasure will afford much enjoyment and reward for  both your pitbull and you. You should certainly research the sport  prior to getting in to it, and additionally you should make certain  your animals have no medical complications or ailments prior to  starting any activity.
