There are different opinions as far as concerns the other foregoer of the terrier. Usually, they agree on the fact that it was a white English terrier paired with a bulldog. Since they wanted to breed an animal for dog fighting but the English White Terrier was never considered to be too brave, and it is much more likely to guess that during the selection a working terrier, such as fox-terrier , for example, was used.
A breed combining the strength, courage and inclemency of the bulldog and aggressiveness, quickness and assertiveness of the terrier has emerged owing to the interbreeding of the bulldog and the terrier. The new breed has inherited not only power and massiveness of the bulldog but become more dexterous and live.
