  Puppies under three months of age should not be vaccinated. Give one  vaccination of distemper at three months, followed by a vaccination  for parvovirus at four months of age, and stop with that. Prior to  giving these shots, be very careful where you take your puppy, but  don't be afraid to socialize. Just avoid dog parks, and other areas  where lots of dogs may be or frequent. A single immunizing dose of a  modified live virus vaccine – in other words, one vaccine that works  – will form long-term, probably lifetime immunity to parvo and  distemper. Immunologists tell us that the only time a vaccination  needs to be repeated is if a puppy doesn’t respond to the first one,  i.e. if his immune system doesn’t form immunizing antibodies. If  this happens in a puppy, it’s almost always due to the presence of  maternal antibodies. Puppies get antibodies (passive immunity) from  their mother’s milk. This natural protection lasts many weeks. Since  maternal antibodies neutralize vaccines, you need to vaccinate AFTER  these antibodies have worn off. This is why vets want to give  puppies vaccinations over and over – so that eventually one will be  given after the maternal antibodies have worn off. Distemper and  parvovirus vaccines are available as modified-live or killed.  Some of owners wait until the maternal antibodies have worn off  (11-16 weeks old). Then they give one vaccination against distemper and  one against parvovirus. And they have their vet use modified-live  vaccines, rather than killed vaccines. After that, Titers for  distemper and parvovirus. If the ration comes back 1:5 (or a number  greater than 5) you're good. Of course there are some valid reasons  why a titer test would come back zero and the dog still be immune  (such as recently exposed to a virus among others). Do some googling  on titers. All the other shots (except Rabies) are virtually  ineffective or of no lasting value. In the case of Rabies vacs, use  "killed" version since because of state/local law, you'll be  required by law to give either ever year or once every 3 years  depending on regulations. The killed version of the rabies virus  will be less stressful on the immune system than modified live every  year or three.
